The main Life Lab garden stretches the length of the building along School Street. Within the garden is a series of nine large raised beds (4' x 10') for planting, one for each grade, K
through 8th. These beds now contain hardy winter plants and a variety of bulbs waiting for spring. The garden is also home to a many trees and bushes that attract birds, butterflies, and other creatures. Students in grades
2 to 6 can keep an eye on changes in their garden through the year from their classroom window. In the spring, several low planter beds and perennials will be added to the planter to complete "Phase 1" of the garden. As the Life Lab program matures, we plan to expand and cultivate several other sites around the Holy Cross campus. A few of these potential expansion sites are described in the links below. |
